June Checklist for Rising Seniors
You have a short time and your senior year will begin.
Use the time you have to accomplish some of these tasks.

It’s summer, and it is going very quickly. Now your FINAL YEAR of high school is almost here. It is time to get serious, if you haven’t already, about college planning! The rest of the summer is going to be a different but exciting time.
What you do this summer will really affect how hectic your fall is going to be. The more you prepare now, the more you can enjoy your senior year. Enjoy the sunshine, but make sure to keep college planning in mind with the list of “To Dos” for rising high school seniors.
Get involved in Summer Activities, Volunteer – Help Others
Hopefully you know by now that what affects college admissions is grades, test scores, AND extracurricular activities. Now is the time to get involved in clubs, the community, and local sports to help show colleges you are active inside and outside of school. Use this time to get creative and use this time to your advantage. If you are artsy, why not check with a local nursing home and see if you can decorate windows with window chalk or ask friends for artwork that you can take to the nursing home and let them put it up. Offer to walk dogs in your neighborhoods for people that are at work and do it as a service, at no cost. Take a batch of cookies to seniors in your neighborhood that are supposed to be staying in or drop them off at the desk of senior living. Community Food Banks want people to help pack boxes of food. Is there a senior you might plant a patio tomato for and take it to them to let them grow it? Volunteering is a great way to spend your free time and give back to the community. You will feel great giving back. It will help you when you are writing an essay for a scholarship, and colleges will see that you chose to help others.
