PLANNING IN THE COVID-19 CRISIS
PLANNING FOR COLLEGE WHILE SOCIALLY DISTANCING
That is language we never expected to have to use but it is here. Here are ways to continue to prepare for college and beyond during this time.
RESUME’
Resume’s are always important to students when applying to college or applying for scholarships to college. The resume’ should reflect who you are and how you give back to your school community and the community you live it.
So what can you do now while you are at home that is YOU? You don’t want to do something to “make your resume’ look good.” You want to do something because you want to help others. Here are just a couple of things you can do. I know you can think of others.
Understand that online learning is probably as new for your teachers as it is for you. Take some time to go over your courses whether you have lessons or not. Review! You may have tests at the end and now would be a good time to work on your own. It will be good practice for those college courses when you have to find information on your own.
Consider learning something having to do with what you THINK you might like to major in in college. We all know you may change your mind, but google your major and look for information. Study it and see if it is something you want to pursue.
Look for free career tests online. They are interesting. Who knows? You may discover something you didn’t know about yourself and what you might like.
Study for an ACT or SAT. There is no pressure right now so take your time and learn how the tests are given. It will help your score.
AP TESTS I have been in contact with College Board and I feel like they are going to take place. Study now what you have previously learned, and if you can, continue to work on material that hasn’t been presented.
Learn something fun, such as playing an instrument, painting, writing stories, etc. Find something you would enjoy. It stretches your creativity and that is always interesting.
